In the centre of Matlock is a roundabout. From this roundabout leave Matlock on the A6 south signposted to Belper and Derby. (This is the road that goes over the river and then makes a sharp left hand turn.

Follow this road through Matlock Bath and 2.5 miles from the roundabout the road makes a long gentle left hand bend by the river, and you come to a staggered crossroads with traffic lights at Cromford.

Turn right at the lights onto the B5038, up Cromford hill, and 2 miles from the lights you go through Wirksworth (where the road becomes the B5023).

Stay on the B5023 through Wirksworth, and in another 3.5 miles go through Idridgehay. (You might care to note the Black Swan on your left!).

Just outside Idridgehay be careful where the road makes a sharp left over the railway, and another road goes straight on. Stay left with the B5023.

In another 2 miles go straight over the traffic lights on the A517 at Cowers Lane towards Duffield. (You might care to note the Railway Inn on your left!).

Within a couple of miles you come to the Puss in Boots (set back from the road on the right), with a left turn opposite it signposted to Hazelwood. Take the left turn.

You go immediately over a small bridge, and then a larger one. On the left are three or four houses together, which you ignore. We are about 100 yards further on.

As you come round a gentle right hand bend, there on the left are the "Knowle Farm" and "Duck Pond View" signs in green, and the entrance is just past the signs. The house is set back from the road with a gravel drive - and there is an old street light by the gate.
